Contents
Per filmtab Ferrous sulfate 525 mg (equiv to elemental Fe 105 mg), vit C 500 mg, niacinamide 30 mg, Ca pantothenate 10 mg, vit B1 6 mg, vit B2 6 mg, vit B6 5 mg, vit B12 25 mcg, folic acid 800 mcg
Indications/Uses
Treatment of Fe deficiency & prevention of folic acid deficiency in non-pregnant adults. Prevention & treatment of Fe deficiency in pregnancy & as a vit B-complex (including folic acid) supplement.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult (including pregnant females) 1 tab daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush/suck.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Repeated blood transfusions or parenteral Fe therapy. Patients w/ pernicious anaemia.
Special Precautions
Determine underlying cause of anaemia. Do not suck, chew or kept in mouth due to risk of mouth ulcerations & tooth discolouration. Regularly assess serum B12 levels in the elderly & those tending to lead to vit B12 depletion. Not to be taken by patients w/ rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsoprtion.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reaction (from rash to anaphylaxis); injury to mouth & pharynx, mouth ulceration, esophageal ulcer, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, discomfort hematemesis, stool blackening, diarrhea, constipation, ileus. Hypersensitization.
Drug Interactions
Antacids may decrease Fe absorption. Ferrous sulphate may interfere w/ tetracycline absorption. Vit B6 may reverse antiparkinsonism effects of levodopa. Inhibited Fe absorption by ingestion of eggs or milk.
